I also installed a software package called Intelliremote that allows me to alter the functions of each button on the Cyberlink Remote Control.

I now have a fantastic HTPC that can playback DVD's and downloaded content as well as youtube videos on my 52" plasma. The remote control now allows my wife and kids to select what they want to watch without touching a keyboard!

I'd be very interested to see your setup to see how I can better my own - looking forward to the resumption of your blog.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Najem Hasan

Re: Be right back…

It is 01/01/2010. There's the 3600 (with XP), or the 3600L (with LINUX). It will run most LINUX packages anyway. I find it runs just fine with Win7, with just 1GB of RAM - although I am planning to upgrade to 2GB at some point.

Re: Be right back…

some good stuff there Derek, just learning about my xmas pressie. But I think it's quite a problem on these devices.
There's a thread about this on xda-developers too (http://forum.xda-developers.co... and in this poll 20 people have reported problems with dead pixels on their Touch Pro 2.

Whether this is a problem on other devices too isn't familiar to me. But because I own a TP2 I thought to Google for this problem and found several resources which reported this problem, therefore I wrote this article

Re: HTC Touch Pro 2 dead pixel issue

Aren't dead pixels an issue with all types of screens (phone, monitor, television)? Some of what you say also seems to be a bit of a leap. "So much problems with dead pixels" and "Obviously I'm not the only one" implies this is a huge issue but you quoted yourself and one other poster. Also, have we seen anyone one else do these tests with other phones to see how common it is with similar screens made by other companies? And why is "Quality Brand" capitalized?

I'd say the key is your own words "under normal conditions it is really hard to find the dead pixels". My guess is they are common and very hard to fine so rarely reported. It's similar to how any portable electronic will have it's battery get warm with heavy use but no one really reports or complains until it's so overly hot that the device nearly fails or becomes discolored (like the latest iPhone).

Re: Windows Mobile Creative Software & Game Design Contest

Aren't the development tools for .NET freeware or at least low cost ?

Re: Windows Mobile Creative Software & Game Design Contest

If MS had wanted independent developers to develop software for WM they should not have discontinued the free development tools.

Re: Microsoft Live Search for Windows Mobile transforms into Bing

I have to tell you that I liked windows live on my windows mobile phone and I absolutely love bing... Very inconvenient since the HTC policy in Europe seems to be not to replace the machine even if problems occurs so soon after purchase. Each will probably have it distinctive set of users. Based on the formfactor I would go for the HTC Snap, as a true messaging device and search for additional applications to finetune the device to your personal needs.

Re: HTC Snap review - the ultimate messenger ??

The main difference is that the HP iPAQ 910c is a Windows Mobile Professional device (touchscreen), while the HTC Snap is a Windows Mobile Standard (non-touchscreen) device.

Furthermore the HTC Snap is much more thinner, and probably the HTC Snap has a better batterylife.
